Security agencies have released sketches of two terrorists believed to be involved in the horrific attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists. In the aftermath of the tragedy, efforts are intensifying to identify and apprehend the culprits behind what is being described as one of the deadliest attacks in the region in recent years.

The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the brutal assault. Following the incident, Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Kashmir to assess the situation, holding meetings with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, cut his trip short and returned to India. Condemning the attack, he assured that those responsible would face the full force of justice. "Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and only grows stronger," he stated.

Paying tribute to the victims, Home Minister Shah posted on X, “With a heavy heart, paid last respects to the deceased of the Pahalgam terror attack. Bharat will not bend to terror. The culprits will not be spared.”

Eyewitnesses and survivors recounted chilling details, claiming that the attackers asked victims about their religion before executing them. The mortal remains of those killed are now being transported back to their respective hometowns. In a bid to assist stranded tourists, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has instructed airlines to stabilise ticket prices for outbound flights from Kashmir.

Meanwhile, heightened security alerts have been issued in major cities, including Delhi and Mumbai, as authorities remain vigilant for any further threats.
