According to an official memorandum, 2014 batch IFS Officer Nidhi Tewari has been appointed as the new Private Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Nidhi Tewari, a dynamic and young Indian Foreign Service officer is serving the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, as PM Modi new private secretary. She is from the 2014 batch of Indian Foreign Services.
Her appointment was approved by the Cabinet Appointments Committee with effect from immediate past, the DoPT memorandum released on March 29 states.

Tewari received 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2013. She is from Mehmurganj in Varanasi - that is also the Prime Minister's constituency in the Lok Sabha since 2014.
IFS officer Nidhi Tewari was awarded in 2016 with the Ambassador Bimal Sanyal Memorial Medal as the Best Officer Trainee and also for Best Dissertation.
Since 6th January, 2023, Tewari has served as Deputy Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, previously serving as Under Secretary in PMO from 2022.
Tewari had served in her previous posting at the Ministry of External Affairs, and she was posted in the Disarmament and International Security Affairs Division.
Tewari has thus served for more than three years in the PMO. Prior to cracking the Civil Services Examination in 2013, she was an Assistant Commissioner (Commercial Tax), Varanasi and studied for the examination besides serving.
She had been working at the PMO so far at the level of deputy secretary in the 'Foreign and Security' vertical that had come under National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
She personally looked after departments like External Affairs, Atomic Energy and Security Affairs, and the state of Rajasthan.
As of now, the Prime Minister has had two Private Secretaries; namely, Vivek Kumar and Hardik Satishchandra Shah.
