NGC Transmission Chennai ships 1,000th ‘Made at Sri City’ gearbox

NGC Transmission Chennai Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of NGC Group, China, and makers of gearbox and drive technology solutions, on Monday exported its 1,000th gearbox unit from its Sri City plant. As the chief guest, D Satyanarayana Rao, Assistant Development Commissioner of Sri City SEZ, flagged off the consignment.
The NGC plant, located in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), manufactures gearboxes for wind turbines and metro rail systems. The company provides direct employment for more than 200.
On the occasion, Rethinakumar, Director, NGC Transmission Chennai Pvt Ltd, said: “The 1,000th gearbox is being exported to our US client, GE Renewable Energy. We are currently expanding our Sri City facility to effectively meet the demands of our global OEM customers in the wind energy industry, including GE, Nordex, Siemens Gamesa, Vestas, Suzlon, Adani, Goldwind, Sany, Windey, and others.”
With six manufacturing units in China, the Sri City plant marks NGC’s first manufacturing venture outside China. The company has also established overseas subsidiaries in the USA, Germany and Singapore.
Congratulating the NGC team, Dr Ravindra Sannareddy, Founder Managing Director, Sri City, said: “We are delighted with the rapid growth of NGC Group, a major player in the precision engineering sector. The Sri City plant, being their first manufacturing unit outside China, holds special significance. I am confident that their market share will further expand with this plant’s expansion.”
