Tata Electronics has appointed KC Ang to oversee the company's semiconductor foundry operation and strategic partnership as it moves towards launching chip manufacturing operations.
KC Ang will report to Randhir Thakur, CEO & MD of Tata Electronics, and will leverage his global experience, helping the firm position itself as a global leader in the chip manufacturing business, said the company.
Thakur expressed his enthusiasm about the new appointment, stating, "We are delighted to have an industry veteran like KC Ang join us and be part of the team driving our semiconductor journey. I welcome KC to Tata Electronics and Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing."
“His extensive industry knowledge and diverse expertise will be valuable as we make steady progress towards commencing operations at our Dholera Fab. With his extensive experience, KC will drive manufacturing operations and work closely with our customers and ecosystem partners," he added.
Commenting on the appointment, KC Ang said, “This sector is poised to make a significant global impact in the coming years, and I look forward to leveraging my experience to drive Tata Semiconductor Manufacturing to the forefront of global chip manufacturing."
About KC Ang
Ang, with himself, brings over 30 years of experience. Earlier, before joining Tata, he served as a President—Asia and Chairman—China at Global Foundries for more than 15 years. In fact, throughout his professional journey, he has worked extensively across Malaysia, Germany, China, and the US.
In terms of education, he boasts a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Master’s degree in Engineering from the University of Texas.
As India seeks to establish itself as a major hub for semiconductor manufacturing, Tata Electronics is actively expanding its capabilities to meet both domestic and international demand. The forthcoming Dholera Fab is anticipated to play a crucial role in this transformation, aligning with the government's mission to boost chip manufacturing capabilities across the country.
