Mumbai: Kurla Bus Accident Death Toll Reaches 6; Police Shut Down Station Road in Mumbai
A BEST bus driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle in a crowded marketplace near Mumbai's Kurla railway station on Monday night, resulting in injuries to forty-nine individuals.

The death toll from the BEST bus accident in Mumbai has risen to six as of Tuesday morning following the driver's loss of control in a crowded marketplace near Kurla railway station on Monday night. The number of injured has also increased to 49, as reported by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Control Management in their Tuesday update.
The incident occurred around 9:50 PM opposite Anjuman-e-Islam School on S G Barve Marg in Kurla (West), when an electric BEST bus travelling on Route Number 332 between Kurla and Andheri stations mounted the footpath and collided with several vehicles and ran over pedestrians. An FIR has been filed and the driver, Sanjay More, was arrested. In response to the accident, police have closed Kurla Station Road to traffic.
The BEST announced that bus services on several routes would be impacted. Buses for routes 37, 320, 319, 325, 330, 365, and 446 will operate from the Kurla depot. Additionally, buses on routes 311, 313, and 318, which typically travel between Santacruz and Kurla station, will be diverted via Tilak Nagar. Route 310 will also be rerouted via Tilak Nagar Bridge en route to Bandra bus station.
According to the BMC, the injured individuals have been admitted to various hospitals throughout the city. Bhabha Hospital in Kurla has treated 35 of the injured, with two individuals pronounced dead at the scene and two others dying after admission. Kohinoor Hospital reported three injured patients, one of whom succumbed during treatment while two remain in critical condition. Seven Hills Hospital confirmed that the four injured police officers in their care are stable, and Habib Hospital noted one death among five patients admitted with injuries.
