Investment memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth Rs 18,500 crore have been signed by potential investors with different states to set up seven PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks.
Of these, five are greenfield parks. Special purpose vehicles (SPVs) have been incorporated with the Central government’s contribution of Rs 4.9 crore per park and state governments’ contribution of Rs 5.1 per park. A work order for Rs 111 crore has been issued and work initiated for infrastructure provision inside the brownfield PM MITRA Park, Amravati, Maharashtra. This information was provided by Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
The other six PM MITRA Parks are at: Warangal, Telangana (brownfield); Virudhnagar, Tamil Nadu (greenfield); Navsari, Gujarat (greenfield); Kalaburagi, Karnataka (greenfield); Dhar, Madhya Pradesh (greenfield); Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (greenfield).
Once completed, each PM MITRA Park is expected to generate 3 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across all elements of the textile value chain.
The government approved the setting up of seven) PM MITRA Parks with a scheme outlay of Rs 4,445 crore for 2021-22 to 2027-28.
