The meeting between Modi and Xi Jinping is about reducing military tensions in East Ladakh after some actions by the Chinese army in May 2020. This situation tested how strong the Indian government and army are.

They talked about how to lower tensions along the 3,488 km border called the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, and China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, led the discussions to help calm things down.

Because of these talks, the Indian and Chinese armies have agreed to start patrolling again in two areas: the Depsang Bulge and Demchok. This is a step toward keeping peace between the two countries.

Although a disengagement agreement was announced in September 2022, India emphasized the need to resume patrols as a condition for normalizing relations.

The opposition criticised the government's handling of the situation, but buffer zones established during negotiations are not permanent, allowing future patrols.

The agreement is a good step to make things better between India and China. But both countries need to talk more about reducing their soldiers since many are still along the border.

The border problems started a long time ago, back in the 1962 war.

India wants to build trust and respect to avoid fighting in the future. The Indian Army is always ready to patrol important places, knowing that keeping peace along the border takes a lot of care.
