Modi, Shah hit back in raging Ambedkar row
The wrangle between Congress and BJP over Home minister’s comments on Dr B R Ambedkar remained unabated.
While rebutting his remarks Amit Shah accused Congress of "mocking the truth", while Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge charged that the Home minister had insulted the father of India and must "apologise to the nation".
Kharge on Wednesday lashed out at Amit Shah for speaking against Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha during Tuesday’s Constitution debate.
Besides, the Congress president said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should immediately expel Shah from his cabinet if he does not admire Babsaheb.
Kharge said in a press conference: "We want Amit Shah to leave his post and if he does not I will say to the prime minister that if he is not one bit respectable for Babasaheb, he must expel Amit Shah from his position before midnight.
Amit Shah, Home Minister in his retaliatory comments to Congress which strongly attacked him accused the old great party of misleading the people and misrepresenting what he had said in Rajya Sabha about B R Ambedkar. He added that this happened because BJP leaders "exposing" the opposition party's repeated "insults" to the father of the Constitution.
"I denounce Congress for distorting facts," Amit Shah said at a press conference. Why did it happen? This was because the BJP leaders had talked about how the NDA governments maintained the Constitution and made it a fact that Congress is anti-Ambedkar, anti-Constitution and anti-reservation.
In a statement condemning his comments, Amit Shah accused Congress of "shifting the truth", while Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge charged that the Home minister has insulted India’s founder and should "apologise to the nation".
Kharge had attacked Amit Shah in Rajya Sabha for the comments he made against Ambedkar during Tuesday’s Constitution debate. Kharge demanded that Shah apologise to the nation for denying the author of the Indian Constitution.
