Hyderabad: Medivision Eye Care Centre, an eye care institution said it has introduced SILK (Smooth Incision Lenticule Keratomileusis) technology, an innovation in laser vision correction, at its centre in the city. The technology is flapless, painless, and bladeless approach translating to faster healing, reduced dry eye symptoms, and stronger corneas.

During a recent media event, Dr Rupak Kumar Reddy K, Director of Medivision Eye and Health Care Centre Pvt Ltd, had discussed the burden of disease, evolving consumer behaviour, and the potential applications and benefits of SILK technology in India.

Dr Reddy said, “The introduction of SILK technology in Hyderabad is a breakthrough for those aspiring to live without glasses or contact lenses. This next-generation laser procedure offers unparalleled precision and safety, ensuring effective visual results. Patients appreciate swift recovery time and minimal disruption of their daily activities compared to other conventional methods.” The SILK procedure is designed to correct vision in patients with Myopia (up to -12.00 diopters) and Astigmatism (up to -6.00 diopters). It utilises advanced ELITA laser system from Johnson & Johnson Vision. The ELITA system creates a tiny disc-shaped tissue in the cornea (corneal lenticule), which is then removed through a microscopic incision of about two to three mm.
