India’s upcoming wedding season, running from November 12 to December 16, is expected to bring in nearly ₹6 lakh crore in business across 48 lakh weddings. This is about 41% more than last year’s ₹4.25 lakh crore from 35 lakh weddings, as per the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

With 18 auspicious dates this season, up from last year’s 11, business activity is set to increase. Especially cities like Delhi are expected to witness a surge in commercial activity, where weddings are expected to generate around ₹1.5 lakh crore across 4.5 lakh ceremonies, as per CAIT reports.

According to CAIT estimates, wedding budgets will vary widely, with 10 lakh weddings at ₹3 lakh each, 10 lakh at ₹6 lakh, 10 lakh at ₹10 lakh, and more high-end events with budgets reaching ₹1 crore or more.

Acharya Durgesh Tare from CAIT’s Veda and Spiritual Committee listed key dates, which include November 12, 13, 17, 18, 22, 23, 25, 26, 28, and 29 and December 4, 5, 9, 10, 11, 14, 15, and 16. Following this, the wedding season will witness a pause from mid-December until January.

CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal noted a trend toward Indian-made products, with people choosing local goods over imports, supporting the “Vocal for Local” and "Atmanirbhar Bharat" initiatives.

Wedding spending is split across goods and services, with main expenses in goods including jewellery (15%), clothing (10%), electronics (5%), dry fruits, sweets, and snacks (5%), groceries and vegetables (5%), gift items (4%), and other products (6%). In services, expenses include banquet halls, hotels, and venues (5%), catering (10%), event management, decor, transportation (3%), photography and videography (2%), and entertainment services like music and lighting.
