Maharashtra Implements Toll Waiver for Motorists Entering Mumbai Ahead of Elections

Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced on Monday that light motor vehicles will be exempt from tolls at five major toll booths entering Mumbai.
This decision, effective from 12:00 am on October 14, 2024, applies to cars, jeeps, vans, and small trucks.
Toll exemption will be available at Dahisar, Anand Nagar, Vaishali, Airoli, and Mulund booths, but the Atal Setu toll will still apply.
This change aims to ease travel during the festive season, especially before Diwali.
The toll waiver has long been requested by various political parties, including the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena and both factions of Shiv Sena.
