Delhi march suspended till February 29
Until their next announcement regarding the agitation, the protesting farmers will remain on the Punjab-Haryana border until February 29. Seminars are scheduled for Sunday, and a candle march by the farmers is scheduled for today.
On February 26, the farmers also intend to set fire to the effigies of the World Trade Organisation and the Centre. According to them, SKM (Non-Political) and KMM will be holding multiple meetings in the coming two days. The farmers postponed the 'Dilli Chalo' march for two days on Wednesday (February 21) following clashes at Khanauri, which resulted in the death of a protester and injuries to approximately twelve police personnel.
Farmer Movement in India
Claiming that the central government and several states have violated the rights of the "peacefully protesting" farmers, a petition has been lodged with the Supreme Court. The petition asserted that the central government and certain states had issued "threats" and strengthened the borders of the nation's capital in response to multiple farmer unions' demands for a minimum support price (MSP) guarantee for their crops and the execution of the recommendations put forth by the Swaminathan committee.
It asserted that different state governments had arbitrarily detained protestors, and that the central government had unjustifiably used prohibitive measures, such as the suspension of social media accounts, the redirection of traffic, and the closure of roads, to quell the demonstrations.
