Landslides in Chooralmala and Mundakkai have devastated Kerala, with the death toll now over 326 and 295 people reported missing.

Rescue operations, which were briefly suspended due to heavy rainfall, resumed on Friday.

Efforts are being coordinated across six key areas:

  • Punchirimattom region
  • Mundakkai region
  • School area
  • Chooralmala town area
  • Village area
  • Downstream area

Ten army teams are managing search and rescue in most of these areas. Major General VT Mathew is leading the efforts in Chooralmala.

The Bailey Bridge, built by the Army, will remain in place until a permanent bridge is constructed, facilitating the transport of essential equipment.

In Mundakkai, 15 earthmoving machines have been deployed to assist with the rescue operations.
