Hyderabad: Investing on a land to set up an industry itself takes up major portion of an entrepreneurs’ capex. To cut down the burden of high land cost, the government of Telangana will be introducing a lease scheme under the new Micro Small Medium Enterprise (MSME) policy, said D Sridhar Babu.

He was speaking at a conclave on ‘MSMEs and Inclusive Growth,’ organised by FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) in the city on Monday Telangana’s first ever MSME policy, currently in the last leg of draft stage, will be tabled in the next Assembly session, Telangana IT Minister D Sridhar Babu said further adding that, “The policy for the MSME sector is being framed to encourage enterprises. While many can afford investing on land at the industrial parks, people with vision, product and patent have to be encouraged. The land will be allotted on lease to reduce financial burden on such micro, small and first-time entrepreneurs.”

Without disclosing details, the Minister said that the government is in the process of creating a MSME fund for themself through which basic and core industries will be supported. The utilisation of the funds is aligned with the government’s vision towards a successful implementation of the policy on-ground, he added.

Replying to a query on improving infrastructure and facilities at existing and new industrial parks, Sridhar Babu said, “We have called for suggestions from women industry body’s before the MSME policy is finalised. We will work on incorporating suggestions we have received such as safety and security of women employees, water connection, day care centre and so on. We will see into how Corporate’s under their CSR activity can assist in putting up primary health centre or other facilities. The government will also look into what value add can be brought at existing industrial parks.”

Elaborating on the announcements made earlier by the government, the Minister informed about the upcoming Skilled University, on the lines of ISB – B School, that will bridge the gap between what the academia produces and the industry demands. Governed and operated by industry houses, Corporate’s have come forward to contribute for the corpus fund for building this University, he added.

The Minister touched upon another recent announcement, the Artificial Intelligence (AI) City that will be coming up on 200 acre of land in the city.
