Mumbai Police have asked stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra to face interrogation on Monday in the raging Kunal Kamra Eknath Shinde Controversy surrounding his satires on Shiv Sena leader Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The comedian had requested for a week to appear before officers, but was informed that no additional time was available according to police sources.
The 36-year old, it's reported, wanted to appear before the police by the 3rd of April and made threats to his life. However, the police refused the request. The police filed case against Kunal Kamra with a variety of offenses including defamation and making statements that are a cause of public criminality.
In a performance that was shot in Mumbai's Habitat studio, the comic's outspoken voice performed a parody of the "Bholi Si Surat" of the 1997 Bollywood film Dil To Pagal Hai to take aim at Mr. Shinde. He used the term' gaddar'( snake) accord against the Sena leader, who sparked an insurrection in 2022 against Uddhav Thackeray's administration in 2022.

Kunal Kamra has been continuously receiving threats from Mr. Shinde's supporters.
The comedy row has been a source of political tension. While Mr. Shinde has claimed Kunal Kamra delivered the jokes at the direction of the Opposition and his former boss Uddhav Thackeray has claimed that the comedian had not done anything wrong and slapped him with the comedian in a 'gaddar' joke at Mr Shinde and his rebellion that toppled his government and splintered his party.
