Kerala Police is currently in the process of implementing cutting-edge, AI driven software solutions that include video analytics-no helmet detection software, automatic number plate recognition, and a central management system provided by Vehant Technologies.

According to a press release, the software installations are already operational in Kerala Police divisions in Palakkad, Ernakulam, and Trivandrum, with ongoing work in progress for Kerala Police in Kasaragod. Upgrades for at least 75 licenses of the software are being carried out in these districts, particularly in response to the escalating crime rates in neighbouring areas, where there is a high demand for automatic number plate recognition and no helmet detection software.

The automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system will bolster urban security of the city by automating vehicle surveillance and law enforcement. The software will swiftly capture and analyze license plate data, aiding in traffic management and enforcing regulations, and further in crime detection. It will facilitate the operators to map the violating vehicle with the ownership details and further generate an alert if the vehicle number is on high alert or blacklisted. Real-time alerts enable proactive policing and swift response to security threats, enhancing overall urban safety.
