In a surprising turn of events in the Karnataka sex scandal involving JDS MP Prajwal Revanna, the National Commission for Women (NCW) revealed that one of the female complainants claimed she was coerced by individuals posing as police officers to file a false case claim under threat of harassment.
Following the NCW's allegation, former JDS state President and Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy accused the Special Investigation Team of pressuring victims with prostitution charges to obtain false statements.
Kumaraswamy raised concerns about the SIT officers' conduct, accusing them of intimidating victims and questioning the fairness of the investigation. He questioned Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on the whereabouts of the kidnapped woman and criticised the distribution of private videos of victims.
Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and son of JD-S MLA H.D. Revanna was implicated in the scandal. Kumaraswamy, H.D. Revanna's younger brother, emphasised the importance of respecting the law and ensuring that the guilty are punished.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara defended the efficiency of the SIT probe and asserted that the state government takes the matter seriously. He dismissed allegations from the JDS, stating that complaints against the SIT should be formally filed.
Parameshwara assured that the investigation would be thorough and action will be taken against anyone found guilty of blackmailing victims with videos. This development adds another layer to the ongoing twist in the Karnataka sex scandal.
The Karnataka sex scandal has taken a complex turn with alleged coercion and intimidation. While some accuse the SIT of misconduct, others defend its actions, emphasising the need for a fair and comprehensive investigation to ensure justice for all involved.
