Hyderabad: The growth of Information Technology (IT) industry in Hyderabad had been incremental for the last two decades irrespective of the change in governments, recession and bifurcation of the State. It is not directly dependent on the government but it can boom further with the support, says Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Global President, World Telugu Information Technology Council (WTITC).
Speaking to Bizz Buzz, he shared some of the recommendations on the ways to fuel the growth of the IT industry in the State. He lauded the efforts of the previous government for their contribution to the development of the IT ecosystem in the State. He said, “Former IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao was successful in marketing the brand Hyderabad. The new government is also creating a welcoming atmosphere for the investments in the State during the last three months. We are hopeful that the growth story of the IT sector will continue under the leadership of new IT & Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu.”
“Telangana government should market its industrial-friendly policies and showcase the State’s tech prowess at global level to attract the investors. Till now, the focus was mainly on IT giants and big size corporate firms, mostly from the US. Almost 60-70 per cent of our IT exports go to the US and European markets. However, many small and mid-size entities from the countries in Africa and Middle-East are looking towards India for the latest technological solutions. The government should invite such companies to grab the investment opportunities in the IT sector. This will also help in creating more tech and non-tech jobs in the State,” the WTITC chief suggested.
The WTITC is a non-profit organisation initiated with a vision to establish Telangana and Andhra Pradesh as globally recognised IT hubs creating a conducive ecosystem for IT businesses to thrive and providing quality employment to Telugu people. It believes in creating a connected IT ecosystem where all stakeholders from the two States have access to information, resources and opportunities. It aims to see the local IT companies lead the world in innovation, and Telugu IT professionals recognised globally for their skills and expertise.
