Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul, who were not retained by their teams—Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants respectively—have set their base price at ₹2 crore for the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction. Spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, also released by Rajasthan Royals, opted for the same base price as the IPL released a full list of 1,574 players up for bidding.
Mohammed Shami, released by Gujarat Titans and last seen in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Following the footsteps of aforementioned players, he has also set his base price at ₹2 crore. Other Indian players with the same base price include Mohammed Siraj, Ishan Kishan, and Deepak Chahar. Umran Malik, who made waves in IPL 2022, has listed a base price of ₹75 lakh.
Australia’s Mitchell Starc, whom KKR bought for ₹24.50 crore last year, is again listed at ₹2 crore. Overseas players like Steve Smith, Jofra Archer, and recently retired David Warner joined him, while New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra opted for ₹1.50 crore.
Notably missing from the list is England's Ben Stokes. On the other hand, veteran James Anderson, who just retired from international cricket, has signed up with a base price of ₹1.25 crore. Italy’s fast bowler Thomas Draca also joined the auction for the first time.
The IPL auction will take place on November 24-25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Each franchise would be given a ₹120 crore budget to build squads of up to 25 players. Punjab Kings lead with a budget of ₹110.50 crore. Following them are Royal Challengers Bengaluru ( ₹83 crore), Delhi Capitals ( ₹73 crore), Gujarat Titans ( ₹69 crore), Lucknow Super Giants ( ₹69 crore) Chennai Super Kings ( ₹55 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders ( ₹51 crore), Mumbai Indians ( ₹45 crore), Sunrisers Hyderabad ( ₹45 crore), Rajasthan Royals ( ₹41 crore).
