IPL 2024: RCB’s Glenn Maxwell tops charts in most duck outs
The Australian’s IPL campaign is a stark contrast from his World Cup 2023 campaign

Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Glenn Maxwell earned the dubious distinction of topping the charts for the most ducks in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
Maxwell played four balls and was dismissed for a duck against Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 11. He equalled the most ducks in IPL history alongside teammate Dinesh Karthik and Mumbai Indians’ Rohit Sharma with 17 scores of zero each.
The Australian all-rounder has only managed to score just 32 runs in six innings for RCB, with a highest score of 28. He started the IPL with a 0, scored 3 in his next match, 28, 0, 1 and 0 in the subsequent matches.
This comes as a shocker, especially after Maxwell was an integral part of Australia's 2023 World Cup winning campaign. He scored a double century at the Wankhede Stadium against Afghanistan and lifted Australia from 91/7 to help them win the match and subsequently the tournament.
On Thursday, it was at the same Wankhede Stadium that Maxwell had to go back after playing just 4 balls and scoring no runs.
Along with Maxwell, RCB’s batting has come a cropper. Cameron Green couldn’t get going, and Will Jacks (who replaced Green in the MI match) also failed to make an impact, with Mahipal Lomror also walking away for a duck.
Most ducks in IPL history:
17 - Dinesh Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell
15 - Rashid Khan, Piyush Chawla, Sunil Narine and Mandeep Singh
14 - Manish Pandey and Ambati Rayudu
