Intl arena polo championship 2024 kicks off in Hyd

Hyderabad: The highly anticipated International Arena Polo Championship 2024 kicked off with fervor at the Hyderabad Polo and Riding Club (HPRC) in Aziznagar, Hyderabad on Monday.

With six teams in the lineup, including two from both the USA and host nation India, excitement fills the air as spectators anticipate a thrilling competition. Alongside the American and Indian teams, Luxembourg and Spain are also vying for the prestigious title.

The tournament promises to deliver an electrifying spectacle until its conclusion on March 10, captivating audiences with top-tier

polo action.

Incidentally, for the first time in Hyderabad history, four foreign teams will battle it out for arena polo glory. Earlier, organising committee members and captains of the participating teams spoke to the media.

In what was a great tribute to the infrastructure facilities at HPRC and the ambience that typifies polo culture, United State captain Don Cox, his Spanish counterpart Acosta Puga Francisco Nicolas and Edward Armstrong, president of American International Polo Foundation, declared it as the greatest polo riding club in India.

Luxemburg captain Alexander Ludorf said that this was his maiden visit to India and the facilities at the venue were amazing. He added that the cuisine was quite fascinating. Indian captain Arsalan Khan said that he was confident of exciting matches all through the championship.
