India’s Newest Airline, Shankh Air, Ready for Take-off
India's emerging airline, Shankh Air, has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining approval from the Civil Aviation Ministry to begin its operations. However, before it can officially take flight, the airline must receive clearance from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Shankh Air is set to make history as the first scheduled airline from Uttar Pradesh, establishing hubs in Lucknow and Noida. As highlighted on its website, the airline intends to connect major urban centres across India through a blend of interstate and intrastate routes, strategically targeting regions with high passenger demand and limited direct flight availability.
The approval letter from the aviation ministry states, "The company is further directed to comply with relevant provisions regulations of FDI, SEBl etc as well as other applicable rules & regulations in this regard." The granted No Objection Certificate (NOC) will remain valid for a period of three years, it further stated.
Shankh Aviation Pvt. Ltd., spearheaded by young entrepreneur Sharvan K. Vishwakarma, who boasts a solid background in infrastructure and trading, is the driving force behind Shankh Air. Vishwakarma’s ambition to make a significant impact in the aviation industry has led to the launch of Shankh Air, with operations set to begin in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The airline will kick off with a fleet of next-generation Boeing 737-800NG aircraft, delivering modern and efficient travel experiences.
With IndiGo currently dominating more than 60% of India's aviation market, the arrival of Shankh Air could shake up the sector, giving passengers more domestic travel options and adding a new layer of competition.
