India women clinch historic 304-run win over ireland, complete ODI series sweep 3-0
The Indian women’s cricket team achieved a record-breaking victory in the third ODI against Ireland, defeating them by a massive 304 runs to complete a commanding 3-0 series sweep. This triumph marked India's largest-ever win in ODI cricket, surpassing their previous best of 249 runs, also achieved against Ireland eight years ago in Potchefstroom. Interestingly, all eight women’s ODIs won by a margin exceeding 300 runs have come against Ireland.
Opting to bat first, India’s opening duo of Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana showcased a masterclass in batting, putting together a staggering 233-run partnership. Pratika Rawal dazzled with her maiden ODI century, scoring a spectacular 154 runs off 129 balls, including 20 fours and a six. Smriti Mandhana was equally dominant, smashing 135 runs off just 80 deliveries, featuring seven towering sixes. Richa Ghosh further bolstered India’s innings with a quickfire 59, propelling the team to an imposing total of 435/5.
In response, Ireland struggled against India’s relentless bowling attack and were bundled out for just 131 runs. Deepti Sharma led the charge with three wickets, while Tanuja Kanwar claimed two. Titas Sadhu, Sayali Satghare, and Minu Manni chipped in with a wicket each to ensure a comprehensive victory.
Pratika Rawal emerged as the series' top scorer, amassing an impressive 310 runs, followed by Smriti Mandhana with 249. Deepti Sharma was the standout bowler, taking seven wickets across the three matches.
This emphatic win highlights India’s growing dominance in women’s cricket and sets the stage for future successes on the global stage.
