India head coach Gautam Gambhir has revealed the playing XI for the upcoming first test of the two-match series against Bangladesh, starting Thursday at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Speaking at the press conference, Gambhir revealed that Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel will have to wait a bit for playing time in the Test team.
"We don’t drop anyone. We just pick the players who fit the XI. We believe in selecting the XI. Jurel is a phenomenal player, but when Pant is coming in, sometimes people have to wait. Same with Sarfaraz. There will be opportunities, and you have to wait," Gambhir said.
He further added, “We all know how destructive Pant can be and what he has done. Not many of his age have done it across conditions. With batting and behind the stumps, he has been phenomenal. His batting overshadows his keeping, especially against the spinners," the 42-year-old further added.
IND vs BAN Predicted Playing XI:
Rohit Sharma (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj
Bangladesh, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back from their recent losses in the ODI series. The visitors have named a strong squad, which includes Zakir Hasan, Shadman Islam, Najmul Hossain Shanto (C), Litton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nahid Rana, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin Ahmed.
