ICC Champions Trophy 2025 To Be Held in Pakistan and Neutral Venue

The ICC has agreed a hybrid model for the highly-awaited 2025 ICC Men’s Champions Trophy, which is set to be held in Pakistan. Under this arrangement, matches between India and Pakistan will take place in neutral venues. The condition also applies to upcoming ICC events between 2024-2027. Namely, tournaments include the 2025 edition of Women’s World Cup (India) and Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 (India/Sri Lanka).

Arrangements for neutral venues will also be granted during 2028 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, for which Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has got the hosting rights. Cricket Australia has got the rights to hold ICC women’s events lasting between 2029 to 2031.

There has been a constant tussle over whether to hold the highly-awaited game in either UAE or Sri Lanka, to which Cricbuzz reported, “While the PCB, the designated host of the eight-team championship, appears to favour Sri Lanka, logistical convenience may ultimately tilt the decision towards the UAE. If so, Dubai will host the India-Pakistan game.”

For the upcoming tournament India refused to go to Pakistan due to security reasons. The Men in Blue have not played in Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Notably, the match schedule for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 will be released in the coming days.
