With mounting anxiety over the virus, Odisha’s state government on Monday sought to allay fears. Nilakantha Mishra, the state's public health director, addressed the media, stressing, “There's absolutely no need to panic. The Centre has yet to issue an official advisory. But rest assured, we are prepared to manage any eventuality that might arise.”

In a hopeful turn, it was confirmed that a two-month-old infant who tested positive for HMPV is recovering well. The child, a resident of Rajasthan’s Dungarpur, was referred to Ahmedabad after being diagnosed. Health Minister Rushikesh Patel provided further details, noting that this case marked the third known HMPV infection in the country, following two previous cases in Karnataka.

Maharashtra’s health minister, Prakash Abitkar, was also keen to quash fears, urging citizens not to succumb to panic. “Instructions have already been issued to all health services in the state. A meeting will be held soon to discuss the matter further. For now, people simply need to adhere to the guidelines provided by the health department. The Union Health Ministry is monitoring the situation closely,” Abitkar said, as quoted by PTI.
