Indian Government announces National Creator's Awards to laud new-age influencers

To recognize the rising contribution and influence of influencers, digital creators, and the digital economy, the Government of India has announced the ‘National Creators Awards’ for new-age influencers.

India’s Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) specified that the award intends to highlight the contribution of many influencers (talents & voices) defining our country’s growth trajectory while also driving some positive changes in society and endorsing and nurturing innovation in the digital sphere.

As per one of the recent Meity addresses, PM Narendra Modi has always advocated for the potential of the creator economy. In line with this, MyGov India has launched the National Creator Awards to appreciate the hard work, creativity, and innovation in domains like storytelling, social change, environment sustainability, gaming, education, and the changes the digital innovators and content creators are bringing to India’s digital front.

Out of the many prominent categories, the ‘Disruptor of the Year’ recognition will recognize someone who has gone against convention, thus bringing in some quality change in their domain. The ‘Celebrity of the Year’ award will acknowledge the influencers who have used their status to bring positive changes and benchmark fresh standards for inspirational digital content.

Additionally, there is another section of awards called the ‘International Creator Award’, which lauds the efforts of overseas creators who have improved India’s cultural influence and soft power globally, ‘Finally, the Tech Creator Award’ will applaud contributors who make the technology simpler by giving reviews, insights and references on the latest innovations.

The selection process is slated to go through nominations, and then the submission's screening. The winners will be declared based on public voting along with the reviews of the experts.
