The government has announced great news for the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

They have approved the building of a third launch pad (TLP) at the centre. This decision was made in a meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to support India’s space research.

A budget of Rs. 3984 crore has been set aside for building the new launch pad. This money will be used to make sure the launch pad is ready to handle spacecraft launches in every way needed. The construction of the launch pad is expected to be finished within 48 months, or four years.

The new launch pad will improve ISRO's launch infrastructure and help with the development of Next Generation Launch Vehicles (NGLV). Currently, there are two launch pads in Sriharikota, and the third one will serve as a backup for the existing ones.
