ED Conducts Raids On Amazon and Flipkart Vendors
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a series of searches targeting various vendors who do business on Amazon and Flipkart. The enforcement agency carried out raids across 16 locations belonging to these vendors.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) found that Amazon and Flipkart are violating local competition laws. It’s being reported that these e-commerce companies are giving preference to selected sellers, while also indulging in steep discounting, thereby hurting other businesses, Hindustan Times reported.
Via its probe, ED is investigating a probable misuse of e-commerce platforms. It is believed that sellers may have indulged in illicit financial practices.
The raids were carried out in locations including Delhi, Gurugram (Haryana), Hyderabad (Telangana) and Bengaluru (Karnataka) under Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
