Delhi to Meerut in just Rs 150 and 43 minutes in Namo Bharat: All about Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor’s new stations
The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS, corridor has ushered in a new era of intercity travel, blending speed, convenience, and affordability like never before. Thanks to the introduction of the high-speed Namo Bharat trains, passengers can now zip between Delhi and Meerut South in a mere 43 minutes—yes, just 43! Delhi to Meerut, Rs 150 fare, makes this innovation as economical as it is efficient.
Meanwhile, the construction of the remaining sections of this ambitious corridor presses forward at a relentless pace. The stretches from New Ashok Nagar to Sarai Kale Khan and Meerut South to Modipuram are rapidly taking shape. Among the recently inaugurated 13 kilometers, 6 kilometers—yes, nearly half—are underground, a groundbreaking (literally) first for Namo Bharat high-speed trains.
Currently operational is a 55-kilometer marvel of engineering, connecting New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South and offering 11 stations along its path. Beginning at 5 PM, passenger services will run with clockwork precision every 15 minutes. The fares are structured to suit diverse needs—Rs 150 for standard coaches and Rs 225 for premium ones. Having already ferried over five million passengers, the Namo Bharat service isn’t just a transit option—it’s a revolution in regional mobility.
The stations along this route, such as New Ashok Nagar, Anand Vihar, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai, Duhai Depot, Muradnagar, Modi Nagar South, Modi Nagar North, and Meerut South, weave a seamless web of connectivity. Each stop serves as a vital node, ensuring smooth and efficient travel for commuters traversing this 55-kilometer stretch.
Notably, the Anand Vihar station, nestled within the underground station, emerges as a standout—one of the corridor’s largest and most impressive stations. In contrast, New Ashok Nagar, perched proudly as the first elevated station in Delhi to go live, symbolizes the project’s reach toward the skies. Both stations have been meticulously designed to integrate effortlessly with other transport modes, such as metro and bus networks, offering passengers unmatched ease in their daily commutes.
Stepping aboard the Namo Bharat trains, passengers experience not just speed but also thoughtfulness in design. A dedicated coach for women ensures safety and comfort, while special seating is reserved for senior citizens, women, and differently-abled individuals (Divyangjans). Accessibility features abound—wheelchair spaces, stretchers, and even onboard train attendants stand ready to assist. These trains aren’t just moving people; they’re redefining what it means to travel with dignity and ease.
