Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented the budget on March 25 for the financial year 2025-26. The budget outlayed ₹1 lakh crore, up by 31.5% from the previous year.
Gupta called it a “historic budget” highlighting that the era of “corruption and inefficiency” was over as the government had doubled the capital expenditure to ₹28,000 crore.
The budget focuses on critical areas, which includes electricity, roads, water, and connectivity. About ₹1,000 crore has been allocated for improving the transport system within Delhi NCR.
Close to ₹5,100 crore has been apportioned to give ₹2,500 per month to eligible women, while ₹2,144 crore has been earmarked for improving healthcare services in the national capital under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
Notably, this is the first budget presented by the BJP-led government in the national capital after 26 years.
