On February 5, 2025, Delhi's electorate is participating in the assembly elections to determine the leadership for the next term. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, seeks a third consecutive term, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) aim to regain influence in the capital.

Voting commenced at 7 a.m. across 13,766 polling stations, accommodating approximately 1.56 crore registered voters. The process will continue until 6 p.m., with results anticipated on February 8.

Security measures are stringent, with the deployment of paramilitary forces, over 35,000 Delhi Police personnel, and 19,000 home guards. Approximately 3,000 polling stations have been designated as sensitive, warranting enhanced vigilance, including drone surveillance.

The AAP, which has governed Delhi since 2015, focuses its campaign on its record in education, healthcare, and public services. The BJP, having been out of power in Delhi for nearly three decades, emphasizes issues such as water supply, pollution control, and infrastructure development. The Congress party, which led the city from 1998 to 2013, strives to reestablish its presence by highlighting past achievements and proposing new initiatives.

Notable figures have exercised their voting rights, including President Droupadi Murmu, Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as well as AAP's Arvind Kejriwal. Their participation underscores the significance of these elections.

As of 11 a.m., voter turnout was reported at 19.95 per cent. The election is characterized by a three-way contest among the AAP, BJP, and Congress, each presenting distinct visions for Delhi's future. The outcome will determine the trajectory of governance and development in the national capital.
