Visakhapatnam: In a significant development, Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) and BEML Ltd (formerly Bharat Earth Movers Ltd) have entered into an agreement for indigenous design, development and manufacturing of spares for dredgers and joint development of manufacturing dredgers. The MoU was signed between Capt S Divakar, in-charge MD and CEO of DCIL and Shantanu Roy, CMD of BEML, a DCIL spokesman declared here on Thursday.
The aim of the MoU is to recognise indigenisation as one of the strategic tools to achieve cost benefits and also complement their strengths to build a mutually beneficial strong technical base. “DCIL would prefer to procure a substantial part of hydraulic aggregates, casting and fabrication items for their dredgers, enabling improved availability of dredgers, attain cost effectiveness and improve competitiveness in the Indian and global market. This strategic partnership between DCIL and BEML marks a significant milestone,” the spokesman said.
