DCA busts illicit drug mfg units in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana along with Prohibition and Excise Department in a joint operation busted illegal manufacturing of Psychotropic substances ‘Alpha-PiHP’ at Medchem Labs, and ‘3-Methylmethcathinone (3-MMC)’ at Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd.
In an official release DCA said that 2.850 kg of Alpha-PiHP worth Rs 1.19 crore has been seized during the raid at Medchem Labs, and 11.5 kg of 3-MMC worth Rs 1.14 crore has been seized at Vanamali Organics. These drugs of abuse circulating on the drug market are illegally used as psychostimulant drugs, it added.
“As part of the joint operation regarding manufacturing of illicit drugs, the special teams conducted surprise raids at Medchem Labs, located at IDA Bollaram, Bollaram Village, Jinnaram Mandal, Sangareddy District, Telangana, and at Vanamali Organics Pvt Ltd located at IDA Mankhal, Maheshwaram Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana. During the raids carried out on March 22 and 23, 2024, officials detected manufacturing of illicit drugs at the two sites under certain code names,” DCA informed.
The Officials have also detected that Medchem Labs exported the drug of abuse Alpha-PiHP to Netherlands.
