Civil Services Exam 2025: UPSC Releases Notification for 979 Vacancies
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has officially released the notification for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025. This year, the examination aims to fill approximately 979 vacancies across various prestigious services.

Application Process
Candidates can apply online through the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in. Before applying, candidates must create a One-Time Registration (OTR) profile, which remains valid for life. Those who already have an OTR profile can proceed directly to fill out the application form.
Correction Window for OTR
New applicants have until January 18, 2025, to edit their OTR profiles. Additionally, after the application process closes, candidates can make corrections to their forms from February 12 to February 18, 2025.
Services Covered Under UPSC CSE 2025
The examination will recruit candidates for a wide range of services, including:
Group ‘A’ Services: Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and others such as Indian Audit and Accounts Service, Indian Revenue Service, and Indian Railway Management Service.
Group ‘B’ Services: Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service, Delhi Andaman & Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS), Pondicherry Civil Services, among others.
Examination Structure
The UPSC CSE is conducted in three stages:
Preliminary Exam: Objective-type questions with negative marking.
Main Exam: Written examination.
Personality Test/Interview: Final round to assess overall suitability.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a graduation degree or equivalent. Final-year students awaiting results can also apply, provided they submit proof of passing before the interview stage. Medical professionals who haven’t completed their internships can apply provisionally but must submit proof of completion at the time of the interview.
Age Limit:
Candidates must be at least 21 years old as of August 1, 2025, and the upper age limit is 32 years. Age relaxations are applicable for reserved categories:
OBC: 9 attempts.
SC/ST: Unlimited attempts.
General: Maximum 6 attempts.
Application Fee
The application fee is ₹100, with exemptions for women, SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
