Cabinet Approves ₹24,657 Crore for Eight Railway Projects
The initiative will add 64 new stations, improve access to six aspirational districts and around 510 villages.

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved eight railway projects costing ₹24,657 crore.
These projects will extend the Indian Railways network by 900 km, enhancing connectivity in 14 districts across Odisha, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, and West Bengal.
The initiative will add 64 new stations, improve access to six aspirational districts and around 510 villages, and connect the Ajanta Caves to the railway network, boosting tourism.
The projects are designed to transport key commodities and increase freight capacity by 143 million tonnes per annum, while reducing logistics costs and CO2 emissions by planting the equivalent of 3.5 crore trees.
The eight projects include:
Four lines in Odisha: Gunupur-Therubali, Junagarh-Nabrangpur, Badampahar-Kandujhargarh, and Bangriposi-Gorumahisani
The Malkangiri-Pandurangapuram line, spanning Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana
The Buramara-Chakulia line, covering Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha
The Jalna-Jalgaon line in Maharashtra and the Bikramshila-Katareah line in Bihar
