Boat Accident in Srinagar's Jhelum River Claims 4 School Children Lives

In a devastating incident on the outskirts of Srinagar, a boat carrying passengers, including four children, capsized in the Jhelum river, claiming the lives of at least six individuals. Reports indicate that around 10 people are still missing.
Medical Superintendent Muzaffar Zargar from Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital confirmed the tragic outcome, stating that six people have died while three others are currently receiving medical care. The State Disaster Response Force quickly mobilised a rescue operation, with initial reports revealing that 12 children have been rescued and are receiving treatment.
The recent heavy rainfall has caused water levels to rise in various water bodies, including the Jhelum. And it likely contributed to the accident. The boat was ferrying children from Gandbal to Batwara in Srinagar when it capsized. Rescue efforts are ongoing, with hopes of locating any remaining survivors amidst the challenging circumstances.
