Bihar Teen’s Fake IPS Ambition: Uncovering the Self-Made Scandal
A peculiar situation has arisen in Bihar, where a teenager named Mithlesh Kumar Manjhi walked into a local police station dressed in an IPS officer's uniform with a pistol that was later discovered to be a fake. Initially, Mithlesh claimed he had been cheated out of Rs 2 lakh while trying to secure a position as an IPS officer. However, police investigations have raised questions about the truth of his story.
Key Events in the Case
On September 20, Mithlesh appeared at the police station in Jamui, presenting himself as an IPS officer, complete with a firearm that was ultimately deemed a replica. He was promptly detained. During his questioning, he alleged that a man named Manoj Singh had misled him, promising to make him an IPS officer in exchange for Rs 2 lakh.
Mithlesh stated that he met Singh a few months earlier and borrowed money from his uncle to make the payment. He claimed that Singh had even provided him with the uniform for his visit to the police station. After sharing Singh's phone number with the police, Mithlesh was released, and the authorities began focusing their investigation on finding Singh.
As the investigation unfolded, however, inconsistencies in Mithlesh's story became apparent. His maternal uncle denied lending him any money for job-related expenses and instead confirmed that he had given Mithlesh Rs 60,000 for his mother’s medical care, Rs 45,000 for constructing a house, and Rs 50,000 for a family wedding. This revelation cast doubt on Mithlesh's claims of being scammed.
The police then attempted to locate every individual named Manoj Singh in the area, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Additionally, the mobile number Mithlesh provided was found to be inactive and registered under someone else's name. Investigators also discovered that on September 20, instead of being in Khaira to collect the uniform from the supposed conman, Mithlesh was actually in Lakhisarai. This led to suspicions that he might have obtained the uniform on his own.
In light of these developments, SHO Mintu Kumar Singh stated that all information given by Mithlesh is being scrutinized and has so far been shown to lack credibility.
