Visakhapatnam: In a bid to bolster the State’s skill development ecosystem, the Department of Skills Development and Training, Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Principal Secretary Skills Development & Training, S Suresh Kumar, held a high-level meeting with Director General, National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR) G Narendra Kumar in Hyderabad on Monday.
The meeting explored potential collaborations on two key proposals establishing skill experience centers and setting up a Center of Excellence (CoE) in skilling.
The discussions centered around leveraging technology and innovative approaches to enhance the impact of the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), a flagship skill development program.
One of the key proposals was the creation of ‘Skill Experience Centers’ in few places in the State. These centers would provide career counselling, real-time exposure to vocational courses through interactive digital platforms, and aspiration-building activities. The aim is to substantially reduce dropout rates in DDU-GKY centers by making the experience more engaging and informative for prospective trainees, according to an official request.
