YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has directed party workers to organize protests targeting the policies of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP)-led government in Andhra Pradesh. Addressing local representatives from Anantapur district at his residence in Tadepalli, Reddy urged members to connect with citizens and highlight the government’s alleged failures.

Reddy, highlighting growing public dissatisfaction, remarked that within six months of its tenure, the TDP government has faced widespread criticism. He urged party workers to engage in issue-specific protests to draw attention to key concerns affecting the people. “These protests are not politically motivated; they are about raising the voices of citizens and standing with them,” Reddy stated in an official release.

The YSRCP has announced a series of protests, starting with a campaign against increased electricity tariffs on December 27. Party members are encouraged to burn symbolic inflated electricity bills to oppose what they allege is a burden of Rs 15,000 crore imposed on the public through higher charges.

Following this, on January 3, the focus will shift to issues impacting students, including delays in fee reimbursement and hostel grant disbursals. The YSRCP claims that these delays have disrupted students’ education across Andhra Pradesh.

Reddy urged party workers to mobilize at the grassroots level, encouraging them to amplify citizens’ concerns and hold the ruling government accountable for its policies. He outlined a roadmap for these protests, urging his cadre to prioritize campaigns that resonate with the daily struggles of citizens.
