VPA Donates Rs 1 Cr To AP Flood Relief
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has extended its support to the victims of the recent floods in Vijayawada by donating Rs1 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s ReliefFund.
VPA Secretary T Venugopal along with heads of departments handed over the cheque on Friday to Visakhapatnam District Collector Harendra Prasad here.
In a compassionate gesture, VPA’s employees contributed one day’s salary towards this relief initiative. The trade unions of
VPA have also shown immense cooperation and generosity in supporting this noble cause. Under the leadership of Dr. M. Angamuthu, Chairperson of VPA, Rs 45,81,770 was collected from employees and officers, while Rs 54,18,230 was allocated from the Corporate Social Responsibility fund, bringing the total contribution to Rs.1 crore.
Meanwhile, Dr. Angamuthu called upon the port stakeholders and stevedore associations to come forward and contribute generously to aid the flood-affected victims.
