VPA Bags Oil Spill Preparedness Award

Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has added another achievement to its illustrious journey. VPA received the prestigious “Samudri Paryavaran Suraksha Trophy” for its exemplary performance in oil spill disaster contingency planning and preparedness.

The award was presented at the Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi, during the 26th National Oil Spill Disaster Contingency Plan and Preparedness Meeting. The Samudri Paryavaran Sanrakshan Trophy is awarded to only one major port, that demonstrates outstanding performance in implementing and adhering to oil spill disaster contingency planning, as well as the standard operating procedures (SOPs) followed to control and mitigate oil spills.

The award is a testimony to VPA's preparedness for controlling oil spills and its commitment towards Samudri Paryaavaran Sanrakshan, i.e. protection of the environment of the sea.
