Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) is receiving encouraging response for the Request for Proposals (RFP) for taking up work on East Coast Habitat Centre and virtual reality arena along with a three-star hotel.

"We are launching several projects in association with the State Government on PPP mode to transform Visakhapatnam into an international city," VMRDA Chairman Pranav Gopal said. According to him, they have initiated several projects to popularise Visakhapatnam-Bheemunipatnam Marine Drive stretching around 30 km as a rendezvous for tourists from all over the world.

The projects, if completed as per timeline set by VMRDA will certainly help boost tourism in a big way, MV Pavan Kartheek, Secretary, AP Tourism Forum, told Bizz Buzz. Once grounded, the twin projects are expected to give a big boost to investments in IT, fintech and tourism sectors. Both the projects are conceived on Public-Private Participation (PPP) route.

The East Coast Habitat Centre is modelled on the lines of India Habitat Centre in Delhi. It is proposed in 8.82 acres at Rushikonda. It will have a business centre, commercial spaces, auditorium and banquet halls to host cultural events, business/boutique hotel, a premium club, well-sculpted lawn, multi-cuisine restaurants, sports arena, supermarkets and banks.

Vizag experience and virtual reality arena along with a star hotel is envisaged to provide new-age experience destination It will have facilities for augmented reality, virtual reality and interactive gaming facilities. It will come up in an area of 2.82 acres at Rushikonda near Madhurawada ACA VDCA International Cricket Stadium.

During a chat, Pavan Kartheek underlined the need to strengthen social infrastructure in and around the city. He welcomed the government's newly-introduced tourism land allotment policy, which he felt are things in the right direction to stimulate tourism infrastructure development, attract investments and promote sustainable tourism practices.

He said Andhra Pradesh's tourism land allotment policy is a significant step towards creating a conducive environment for tourism Infrastructure development and bringing investments, promoting sustainable tourism practices and providing employment opportunities.
