Vizag Port occupies top slot in renewable energy use
Visakhapatnam: Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) has set benchmarking in renewable energy utilisation as part of green port initiative.
VPA Chairman M Angamuthu said the port achieved a significant milestone by becoming the leading major port in India to utilise 100 per cent renewable energy. This achievement places Visakhapatnam Port Authority in the first position among all major ports in the country, contributing to a sustainable and eco-friendly future.
Under the green port initiatives launched by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, VPA has undertaken several projects aimed at improving environmental performance and aligning with the blue economy’s objectives. These initiatives include the establishment of a solar power plant, extensive plantations, introduction of CNG buses, and the deployment of sweeping machines.
