The long-anticipated Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project has been approved, as the government has officially green-lit the construction of three metro corridors in the city.

The highly anticipated Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project has received the green light, with the government approving the development of three metro corridors within the city. The project will span a total length of 76.9 kilometres.
The proposed corridors include:
A 34.4 km route from the Steel Plant to Kommadi
A 5.08 km route from Gurudwara to the Old Post Office
A 6.75 km route from Tadi Chettu Palem to Chinna Waltair
Phase 1 will cover 30.67 kilometres, connecting Kommadi to Bhogapuram, while the second phase will focus on completing the remaining segments. This initiative aims to enhance urban mobility and alleviate traffic congestion, significantly improving the transportation infrastructure in the port city.
