Vijayawada: The State Government is taking necessary steps to stabilise the prices of green chillies, red chillies, brinjals, tomatoes and other vegetables in the State, said Chief Secretary K Vijayanand. During a video conference with the officials of the Agriculture, Marketing, Civil Supplies departments and Markfed, he directed to monitor the prices of vegetables and other crops and review the details of the prices currently being received by farmers in the market for the respective crops.

The Chief Secretary said that the farmers who cultivate the respective crops to ensure that they get minimum prices and also to make them available to the consumers at reasonable prices. He said that the government will take all necessary steps to ensure that the farmers who have worked hard and cultivated the crops get minimum support for the crop under any circumstances. The CS ordered to monitor price fluctuations from time to time and ensure that prices are maintained in a manner that does not cause any inconvenience to both farmers and consumers.

Since there are situations where prices fall in areas with high production under market intervention and prices remain high in areas with low supply, there is a possibility of stabilising prices to some extent by shifting the products to areas with low production. He also directed to monitor vegetable prices from time to time with real-time governance linkage along with Agriwatch.
