Steel Minister To Visit Vizag Soon To Discuss On RINL Revival Package

Visakhapatnam: Union Steel and Heavy Industries Minister HD Kumaraswamy will visit Visakhapatnam soon and hold a meeting with the trade unions and management of Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

He disclosed his plans to visit the city soon when senior BJP leader and former MP G.V.L. Narasimha Rao called on him in New Delhi on Tuesday to express his gratitude to the Minister for the contribution made by him for launching the Rs14,440 crore revival package for RINL. Narasimha Rao also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for clearing the proposal at the last Cabinet meeting.,He also thanked Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, BJP State president Daggubati Purandeswari and Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu for taking up the issue before the Central authorities.

Narasimha Rao, who was the first to go on record that the RINL disinvestment proposal had been paused, said he repeatedly apprised the BJP top leadership and Central authorities about the need to retain RINL in the public sector and to launch a revival package to enable it to make a turnaround.
