Pawan Kalyan’s Bold Statement on Andhra’s Volunteer System: Salary Hike & Future Plans Revealed
Pawan Kalyan, Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM, addresses the future of the state's volunteer system, promising a salary hike to Rs. 10,000/month.
After the alliance government came to power, discussions about the future of volunteers continued.
Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan recently spoke about the volunteer system. He responded to requests from Sarpanchs (village heads) who wanted the system cancelled.
Pawan Kalyan explained that the coalition government wants to help volunteers. He said the previous government had misled them.
He clarified that volunteers are not official employees. They can be removed if they were part of the formal system, but that’s not the case here. This is a "technical issue," he explained.
The volunteer system was started by the YSRCP government. It assigned one volunteer for every 50 households. The issue of volunteers became a big topic during the elections.
When the election code of conduct began, the Election Commission removed volunteers from their duties.
The job of distributing pensions was given to employees of village and ward secretariats. Volunteers' mobile phones were also taken back.
As a result, some volunteers resigned. The volunteer system became a major issue during the elections.
The YSRCP party claimed the alliance would end the volunteer system if they won.
In response, the alliance promised to keep the system and even increase volunteers' salaries to Rs. 10,000 per month.
After the alliance government came to power, discussions about the future of volunteers continued.
Leaders like Chandrababu Naidu and ministers said the system would continue, but no official decision has been made yet.
Some volunteers who had resigned during the election period criticized the situation. They said they were pressured to leave their posts.
They have repeatedly asked the Chief Minister and other ministers to bring them back.
