Visakhapatnam:n a landmark move to minimise emissions and enhance environmental sustainability, NTPC Simhadri has commenced the sale of gypsum, a value-added by-product derived from flue gas at its power plants.

On Thursday, Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Chief General Manager of Simhadri, marked the milestone by inaugurating the first sale of gypsum at the plant near Parawada, underscoring a significant advancement in the company’s green energy efforts.

This breakthrough stems from NTPC Simhadri’s Flue Gas Desulphurisation (FGD) units, which are designed to curtail sulfur dioxide (SO₂) emissions. By converting these emissions into gypsum - a versatile material used in industries like cement and agriculture - NTPC Simhadri has successfully transformed a potential environmental threat into a valuable resource.
