Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Government has declared its resolve to propel economic growth by addressing the issues that are crucial to unlocking the State’s full potential and positioning it among India’s top three tourism destinations.

Niche areas such as eco-tourism, cruise tourism, beach circuits and backwater tourism will be en-couraged in a big way with private participation to create immersive experiences with special fo-cus on safety and security of tourists. Additionally, it will aim to create a robust ecosystem that fosters private investment growth by streamlining approval processes, offering incentives and implementing investor-friendly policies.

Special focus will be placed on developing anchor destinations to serve as key hubs, attracting both domestic and international tourists.Tour and Travel Association of Andhra (TTAA) president K Vijay Mohan and secretary P Srini-vas Kumar welcomed the emphasis on infra development and promoting cruise, eco and other theme-based tourism areas.

In a GO issued on Tuesday approving New Tourism Policy for 2024-29, the government stated that the policy focuses on efforts to improve infrastructure, diversify tourism offerings, attract private investments and promote experiential & sustainable tourism practices. As the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Policy 2020-2025 set to conclude on March 31, 2025, the formu-lation of a forward-looking policy has become imperative.

The order said the new tourism policy will address the challenges faced by the investors while emphasising strategic branding and marketing, sustainable infrastructure development and the promotion of niche segments.
